Q: What type of software is PlayMemories Studio™?

A: PlayMemories Studio™ is an integrated photo/movie viewer for 3D-compatible PlayStation®3. In addition to performing batch processing of photos/movies, the software makes it easy to choose how to edit and play photos/movies. The software also allows you to perform a variety of functions, such as saving copies between storage devices, uploading photos/movies to external services, and remote play.

Q: What are the system requirements for using PlayMemories Studio™?

  • Sony Entertainment Network account (required for some network functions used when downloading PlayMemories Studio™)
  • To use network functions, make sure you have updated to the most recent version of system software.
  • In addition, the following items are required in order to enjoy 3D images:
  • A 3D TV that supports the HDMI 3D standard
  • A high-speed HDMI cable

Q: How can I purchase PlayMemories Studio™?

  • Connect the PlayStation®3 to the Internet.
  • Access the PlayStation®Store.
  • Use the search function on the PlayStation®Store page to search for PlayMemories Studio™.
  • Download PlayMemories Studio™.

Notice: Before using PlayMemories Studio™, you must first read and agree to the "End-User License Agreement".

Q: Can you tell me more about the PlayMemories Studio™ trial version?

A: A 30-day "PlayMemories Studio™ Trial Key" is available to let you try all of the functions before purchasing. You can download the "PlayMemories Studio™ Trial Key" from the PlayStation®Store. The "PlayMemories Studio™ Trial Key" is valid for 30 days after it is downloaded. You can enjoy PlayMemories Studio™ without any time restrictions by purchasing the "PlayMemories Studio™ Unlock Key".

Q: Can I view copied photos/movies in the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar)?

A: You can view photos and MP4 movies that are copied to the PS3™ internal HDD using PlayMemories Studio™. However, you cannot view copied AVCHD images from the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar).

Q: What image formats can be viewed in PlayMemories Studio™?

A: PlayMemories Studio™ supports the formats listed below.

  • Photos

    2D photos: JPEG, 3D photos: MPF

  • Movies

    2D movies: AVCHD (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 AVCHD Ver. 2.0 Standard), MP4 (MPEG-4 Visual, MPEG-4 AVC/H.264)
    3D movies: AVCHD (MPEG-4 MVC/H.264 AVCHD Ver. 2.0 Standard), MP4 (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Side By Side)

    Movie size: 160x112 (minimum) to 1920x1080 (maximum)
    Frame rate: 2D movies (15P, 24P, 30P, 50P, 60P, 50i, 60i), 3D movies (24P, 50i, 60i)
    Audio: AVCHD (Dolby Digital, Linear PCM AVCHD Ver. 2.0 Standard), MP4 (MPEG-4 AAC LC sampling frequency 24kHz/48kHz, Linear PCM Sampling frequency 48 kHz)

    The following formats are not supported in PlayMemories Studio™.

    • MP4 60p
    • Motion JPEG
    • XAVC

Q: When rotation, date/time taken, and location info settings are edited in PlayMemories Studio™, are the changes visible in the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar)?

A: The edited rotation, date/time taken, and location info settings do not appear in the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar). Changes made to images in PlayMemories Studio™ are applied only in PlayMemories Studio™.

Q: How can I log in to Sony Entertainment Network with an account I previously made for PlayMemories Online™?

A: To use PlayMemories Online™ with another account, go to the PlayStation®3 XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) and select [User], create a new user, then sign up with the new account.

Q:Can I download images on PlayMemories Online™?

A:You can download selected images from the Sub Menu. You can open the Sub Menu with thebutton.

Q:Can I edit images in PlayMemories Online™?

A:You can edit images by first downloading images to the PS3™ Internal HDD or USB storage device.

Q:What should I do to enjoy TRILUMINOS™ colour?

A:You need to change the PlayStation®3 settings as follows:
Set [Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White (HDMI)] to [On] in [Settings] > [Display Settings] on your PlayStation®3.
You also need to connect a BRAVIA TV with TRILUMINOS™ colour to the PlayStation®3.
