| The following are the solutions for the typical trouble reported from PMB users. |

If free codecs or codec packs are installed in the computer, the following symptoms may occur.
- Videos cannot be edited
- Videos cannot be played back
- AVCHD™ videos cannot be converted to MPEG2 or WMV videos
- AVCHD™ discs cannot be played back
- Blu-ray, AVCHD™ or DVD-Video discs cannot be created
- Thumbnails for some file formats are displayed as

- OS automatically shuts down
- Videos cannot be imported
- Video analysis fails
- The Runtime error occurs when launching PMB
These symptoms can be corrected by uninstalling the free codecs or codec packs or updating PMB to the latest version. |

The installation procedure differs among the versions of PMB.
- For PMB Ver.3.2.00 or later
You can install your PMB on Windows Vistaョ 64-bit edition / Windowsョ 7 64-bit edition.(*1)
- For PMB Ver.2.1.03- 3.1.00
Install your PMB on Windows Vistaョ 64-bit edition / Windowsョ 7 64-bit edition first, then update it to Ver.3.2.00 or later.(*1)

For PMB Ver.2.1.02 or older
Install your PMB using [PMB Installer for Vista 64-bit], then update it to Ver.3.2.00 or later.(*1)(*2)
If you installed PMB Ver.2.1.02 or older without using [PMB Installer for Vista 64-bit] and found trouble, try the following solution.
- For Windows Vistaョ 64-bit edition
- When starting up the OS, press the F8 key to display [Advanced Boot Options], then select [Safe Mode] to boot.
- When the OS starts up, delete the following file. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers\PxHelp20.sys
(This is an example when the OS is installed on the drive C.)
- Restart the OS. An optical disc drive icon may disappear from [Computer].
- Update PMB to Ver.3.2.00 or later(*2) and restart the OS. The missing drive icon will be displayed again.

For Windowsョ 7 64-bit edition
- When starting up the OS, press the F8 key to display [Advanced Boot Options].
- Select [Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)] to boot.
- When the OS starts up, install PMB using [PMB Installer for Vista 64-bit], then update it to Ver.3.2.00 or later.(*2)

- If you have installed more than one version of PMB, please install the newer version over the older version again.
- If you install PMB Ver.5.0 or later over the older version, the following functions will be deleted.
- Adding "Favorite" marks to images
- Image Export Tool in PMB Ver.3.0.02
- Playlist Disc Creation
- Highlight index for expanded videos
- Deleting images from the HDD or the internal memory in the camcorder
- Converting an AVCHD™ disc to a DVD-Video disc with Video Disc Copier
- Exporting videos to a tape in the DV/HDV camcorder
- Please check the following folder.
\Program Files\CommonFiles\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime
If there is the [11] folder under the [RunTime] folder, rename the [RunTime] folder (e.g. to [RunTime_backup]), and try installing again.
If the problem persists, restore the folder name to [RunTime] again, rename the [11] folder in the [RunTime] folder, and then try again.
After the installation is completed, it is recommended to restore the folder name.(*)

If the installation wizard stops at the [Confirm camera connection] window, please check if the connected camera is in the USB connection mode.
- When connecting the camcorder, you need to select the appropriate connection mode on the LCD screen of the camcorder.
- When connecting the Digital Still Camera DSC-G1, press the CONNECT button on the Cyber-shot® Station Cradle.

It may take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete the installation. Even if it looks that the computer is not responding during the installation, please wait for a while as the installation process may be proceeding in the background. |

If PMB Ver.5.0 or later is installed in your computer, you do not need to install the older version.
By connecting your new product to your computer with the USB cable, the necessary functions will be added to PMB.
If the version of installed PMB is older than Ver.5.0, functions will be added by installing the different version. Please install the older version first, and then overwrite it with the newer version.
(*) If you install PMB Ver.5.0 or later over the older version, the following functions will be deleted.
- Adding "Favorite" marks to images
- Image Export Tool in PMB Ver.3.0.02
- Playlist Disc Creation
- Highlight index for expanded videos
- Deleting images from the HDD or the internal memory in the camcorder

If the graphics driver installed in the computer is not compatible with DirectX® 9, the following symptoms may occur.
- Images and their colors are not displayed properly when playing back videos
- Videos cannot be played back
- Videos cannot be edited
- Videos are not displayed properly when editing
- Thumbnails are blank, and displayed as

- When launching PMB, Windows® screen becomes smaller, or the screen resolution or color setting is lowered
These symptoms can be corrected by updating the graphics driver.
When updating the graphics driver, please use the latest one available from the vendor of your computer or graphics card. Please also try updating PMB to the latest version. |

This message may appear if the version of Internet Explorer is 8 and the security software "Trend Micro Internet Security 2010" is used.

If [ USB CONNECT] is selected on the [USB SELECT] screen of the camcorder without inserting a Memory Stick Duo, the message "Unable to retrieve the management information." may appear.
In this case, please disconnect the camcorder from the computer and connect it again after inserting a Memory Stick Duo containing recorded images. Alternatively, select the media containing recorded images on the [USB SELECT] screen.
This message may also appear if image database files are damaged or not created in the Memory Stick Duo. In this case, please insert the Memory Stick Duo to the camcorder, and create or recover the image database files. |

If you use the computer equipped with a drive to create a Blu-ray disc, the function to create a Blu-ray disc can be added to PMB supplied with the camera which supports AVCHD™ recording.

- If the disc is not finalized, please finalize it with the camcorder.
- If the disc is inserted in the camcorder connected to the computer via USB, please eject the disc from the camcorder and insert it again.
- Please check if the contents in the DVD disc can be viewed with Explorer. If not, please reinstall Sonic UDF Reader as follows.
* If you use Windows® Vista, you do not need to install UDF Reader.
- Insert the supplied CD-ROM in the computer's drive.
- When the installation screen appears, click [Exit] to close the screen.
- Right-click the [SONYPICTUTIL] icon in [My Computer], and select [Open] from the displayed menu.
- Open the [DIApp] folder, then the [UDFReader] folder, and double-click the [Setup.exe] icon.
- Installation of Sonic UDF Reader starts. Follow the on-screen message to complete the installation.
* If the older version of UDF Reader is installed in your computer, the message to prompt you to uninstall the older version may appear.
In this case, please uninstall it according to the message.

- If you use a laptop computer, please turn off its power saving function.
- If a driver for a third-party USB streaming camera is installed, the problem may be resolved by uninstalling the driver.
- Please uninstall the packet-writing software(*)installed in your computer.

- If the destination disc is other than DVD-RW, please change it to DVD-RW and try again.

When using a computer which fully satisfies the system requirements, the time required for creating DVD-Video from HD videos is approximately several times longer than the total length of the videos to be burned. If the computer environment is insufficient, it may take even longer (3 to 5 times than the above).
For example, if you create DVD-Video from 1~2-hour HD videos, it may take up to the whole night or day. |

- Personal Space: 150MB, 20 minutes
- Youku: 200MB, 5 minutes (Available in China)
When the video reaches the maximum length, the remaining part of the video will not be uploaded.
When the video reaches the maximum size before reaching the maximum length, the video is handled differently depending on the upload setting as follows.
- With [Prioritize Image Quality]: The video will be shorter according to the size limit of the service. (The part exceeding the size limit will be cut.)
- With [Prioritize Upload Speed]: The image quality of the video will be lowered according to the size limit of the service. (The video can be uploaded in full length.) |
