Notice to owners of Mount Adaptor "LA-EA1" for firmware upgrade

When performing the firmware upgrade, please use a fully charged rechargeable battery pack NP-FW50 or the AC adaptor AC-PW20 (sold separately).
Do not remove the battery or AC adaptor during the upgrade; otherwise, the camera may become inoperable due to the sudden power shutdown.
Remove the memory card from the camera beforehand.

Click on one of the files below (LA-EA1V2_Update1011a.dmg) to begin download.
Please save the downloaded file onto the Desktop of your computer (recommended).

Double-click the downloaded file [LA-EA1V2_Update1011a.dmg].
Do not connect the camera yet at this point.
Double-click the [LA-EA1V2_Update1011a] icon which appears on the Desktop.
Double-click the [FirmwareUpdater] icon.
To load a kernel extension, the message prompts you to allow the application to make changes. Type the password for the administrative account. (Figure 2-1)

Remove the memory card from the camera before following the procedure below.

Attach the mount adaptor and the A-mount lens to the camera, then turn on the camera.
According to the instruction on Firmware Updater, select [Menu] - [Setup] - [USB Connection] on the camera, and check if [Mass Storage] is selected (Figure 3).
If the mode other than [Mass Storage] is selected, please select [Mass Storage].

Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable.


		When the camera is connected to the computer, the LCD screen of the camera turns off. Please proceed to the next step.

Click [Next] on Firmware Updater. Figure 4 appears on Firmware Updater, and Figure 5 appears on the LCD screen of the camera.


		From now on, never turn off the camera until the firmware upgrade is completed.

After confirming the screens on Figures 4 and 5, click [Next]. The current version and the version after the upgrade appear on the lower left part of the screen. (Figure 6)
After confirming [Current version] is [Ver.1], click [Next].

The screen below appears.

Press the center of the control wheel to execute.


		This operation will turn off the screen. Please proceed to the next step.

After resetting, reconnection of the camera is verified, and the screen on Figure 10 appears.

Click [Run] to transfer the upgrade firmware data.
The progress bar appears while transferring (approximately 10 seconds).

Click [Run] to transferring the upgrade firmware data.

		Never turn off the camera nor disconnect the USB cable while transferring the upgrade firmware.

When the transfer is completed, the screen on Figure 11appears.
Click [Finish] and disconnect the USB cable.

The updating procedure will start, and Figure 12 will be displayed. The progress bar appears while upgrading.

When the upgrade is completed, the screen on Figure 13 appears.


		Turn off the camera, remove the battery pack or the AC adaptor, and then turn on the camera again.

Complete the upgrade of the mount adaptor.

Follow the instruction below to confirm the firmware version is Ver.02.

Select [Menu] - [Setup] - [Version] on the camera.
The firmware version is displayed (Figure 14).
