ARW Recovery Tool

An issue in PlayMemories Home ver.5.5.00 (Windows version) where a RAW file (.ARW/ARQ) would not be properly saved (and displaying/editing in an app may not be possible) when a RAW file captured with ILCE-9/ILCE-7RM3/ILCE-7M3/DSC-RX10M4/DSC-RX100M6/DSC-RX100M5A was given a rating (STAR RATING mark) has been confirmed.
The ARW Recovery Tool recovers RAW files to allow them to be viewed and edited.

After agreeing to the END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT, download the ARW Recovery Tool. Save the downloaded file to the desktop on your computer (recommended).

Operating the ARW Recovery Tool

Start recovery

1.
Double-click the downloaded ZIP file (ARWRecoveryTool.zip) to open the folder. When the folder opens, double-click ARWRecoveryTool.exe to start the ARW Recovery Tool.

Drag and drop ARW/ARQ files with ratings (STAR RATING mark) to the ARW Recovery Tool app screen. The recovery process begins. You can recover up to 100 files at a time.

Recovery completion

When the recovery is completed, a dialog indicating the completion is displayed.
2.
After the recovery is completed, the number of recovered files is displayed on the app screen.
  • Recovered files: Number of files that were recovered
  • Unrecoverable files: Number of files that could not be recovered
  • Uncorrupted files: Number of files that did not have to be recovered

Recovery results

The recovered RAW file and log file are created in the same folder as the original RAW file.

  • RAW files that were recovered:
    Files that were successfully recovered are saved separately from the original RAW file.
    File name of recovered RAW file: [original file name]_recovered.arw
  • Log file:
    The result of the recovery is recorded in a log file.
    File name of log file: ARWRecoveryTool_[date and time].Log
