This utility is only for use with the Sony® RM-LVR3 "Live-View Remote". Do not install this utility with any other model.
WARNING!!: This system software update and any changes incurred by it are permanent. It is not possible to return to a previous system software version after updating this system software. By continuing this update process and downloading and updating this system software, you acknowledge that you are aware and understand that this update cannot be reversed.
IMPORTANT: Don't allow the computer to enter Sleep (Standby) mode during the update process. To change these settings, refer to your computer manual or consult the manufacturer.
This update process requires the following items for proper updating:
A computer with:
- One of the following Microsoft® Windows® operating systems installed:
  Windows® 10 / Windows® 8.1 / Windows® 7 Service Pack 1
- Available Hard Disk Space: 500 MB or more
- Installed Memory (RAM): 512 MB or more
- A USB port
- Please close all other application software before updating the firmware.
- Prevent your computer from sleeping beforehand.
Device power supply:

The device which carried out full charge.
- The update can be performed only when the remaining battery level is (four marks) or more. We recommend that you use it in the state where it fully charged.
  WARNING!!: The device may not operate properly if the power is interrupted during the update.
Cradle and USB cable supplied with the device:
- Use only the Cradle and the USB cable supplied with the device.
  IMPORTANT: Update functionality is not guaranteed with any other USB cable.
To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
Disable the sleep function in advance.

1.: Determine if Your Device Needs the Update

Follow the instruction below to check the system software version. This update is for RM-LVR3 that currently has a system software "Ver. 2.00 or earlier". If the system software version is "Ver. 2.01", the update is not required.

Check the system software version

1.: Press the MENU button to select [Remote control setting], then press the REC/ENTER button.
2.: Please select [Ver.] then press the REC/ENTER button.The system software version is displayed.

2.: Prepare the Device for the System Software Update

1.: When performing the system software update, please use a fully charged the device.
2.: Please do not turn off the power during the update; otherwise, the device may become inoperable due to the sudden power shutdown.
3.: Prevent your computer from sleeping beforehand.

3.: Download and Update the System Software

1.: Download the update file
Download the Update file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference). Please save the downloaded file onto the Desktop of your computer (recommended).

Note: For Windows 8.1/10 users;

Under the initial settings of Internet Explorer®, the update file will be saved in the [Downloads] folder. Click the [Desktop] tile from the Start screen and find the downloaded file in the [Downloads] folder by using Explorer.

LICENSE

Under this Agreement, Sony and it licensors grant you a limited license to use the program and accompanying online documentation for use only with the Sony products and not for resale.

YOU AGREE NOT TO MODIFY OR DISASSEMBLE THE PROGRAM OR THE ACCOMPANYING ONLINE DOCUMENTATION, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED FOR IN THIS AGREEMENT OR UPON SONY'S PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL. IN ADDITION, YOU AGREE NOT TO TRANSFER, LICENSE OR DISCLOSE THE PROGRAM, THE ACCOMPANYING ONLINE DOCUMENTATION OR ANY PROGRAM YOU DEVELOP FROM THEM, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, TO ANY THIRD PARTY EXCEPT UPON SONY'S PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL. Upon termination, you will destroy the program and accompanying online documentation and all copies you have made of them. In addition, upon termination you will have no recourse against Sony or its licensors for your inability to use the program or the accompanying documentation.

EXCLUSIONS OF WARRANTIES

THE PROGRAM AND ACCOMPANYING ONLINE DOCUMENTATION ARE FURNISHED TO YOU "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. SONY AND ITS LICENSORS DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PROGRAM OR THE ACCOMPANYING ONLINE DOCUMENTATION WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE. The customer acknowledges that any export of software containing encryption technology from the United States or subsequent re-export of such software by a person located outside of the United States requires a license or other authorization from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security. The Customer further acknowledges that software containing encryption technology and acquired from Sony Electronics is not intended for use by a foreign government end-user. By accepting this license agreement, the customer agrees to abide by all relevant U.S. export laws and regulations in the purchase and use of the Sony Electronics product being acquired, including, but not limited to those regulations relating to the export control of cryptographic items.

MISCELLANEOUS

Some jurisdictions may not allow exclusions or limitations of incidental or consequential damages, or allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.

You acknowledge that as between you, Sony and its licensors, Sony and its licensors own all right, title and interest, including but not limited to, all copyrights, trade secret and other intellectual property in and to the programs and accompanying online documentation. You further acknowledge that Sony's licensors are direct and intended third party beneficiaries of this Agreement and may enforce it directly against you. If you are a governmental entity, your use, duplication or disclosure of the program and accompanying documentation are subject to the restrictions set forth in subparagraphs (c)(1) and (c)(2) of the Commercial Computer Software clause at FAR 52.227 19, and subparagraph (c)(i)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at DOD FAR 252.227-7013 and any comparable federal, state or local law or regulation and, for this purpose, the manufacturer is Sony Electronics Inc. located at the address referred to below. You may not export the program and accompanying online documentation in violation of the United States Export Control Act. This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the United States and of the State of New York. If any part of this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, the other parts will remain valid.

Start up System Software Updater
Close all currently running programs on your computer. Double-click the downloaded file. System Software Updater starts up.

Connect the device to the computer

ⅰ.

Connect the device to the computer with the supplied Cradle and USB cable.

*: "USB Mode" appears on the LCD monitor of the device.

Note:

If the computer cannot find the device, the message "Could not find the device for this update." appears on the computer display. Try the following if this happens.

Disconnect the USB cable and connect it again.
If the computer has multiple USB terminals, try with the other terminals.
(Your computer may have some USB terminals on the backside.)

At this time, confirm

is displayed on the task tray at the lower right corner of the computer screen.

ⅲ.

After confirming the above, click [Next] on System Software Updater. The below screen appears on System Software Updater, and the LCD monitor of the device.

Note:

From now on, never turn off the device until the system software update is completed.

Check if the updating is required

ⅰ.

The current version and the version after the update appear on the lower left part of the screen.

Upgrade is required

Note:

If the below screen appears, the update is not required. According to the message, stop the USB connection and click [Finish].

Upgrade is not required

ⅱ.

After confirming [Current version] is [Ver.2.00], click [Next].

5.

The device automatically resets

The following screen appears.

Note:

Please keep the USB cable connected even after stopping the USB connection on the computer with the above operation.

6.

Start the update

After automatically resetting, the below screen appears and the update starts. The progress bar appears while updating (approximately 10 minutes).

Note:

Never turn off the device nor disconnect the USB cable while updating

7.

Complete the update

After finishing the update, the PC screen will be changed to the below screen. Also the device automatically reboots, which may take a few minutes.Please wait until the same screen on the LCD appears as one just before starting the software update. When the screen appears, push [Finish] button and disconnect the USB cable.

8.

Check the system software version

Follow the instruction to confirm the system software version is Ver.2.01.

1.: Press the MENU button to select [Remote control setting], then press the REC/ENTER button.
2.: Please select [Ver.] then press the REC/ENTER button. The system software version is displayed.
