For the purpose of maintaining the compatibility and product image of the "E-mount" products, Sony will evaluate the qualification of each applicant as a licensee of the Basic Specifications based on predefined criteria. Only the company which satisfies such criteria may apply for the Basic Specifications license.
(Application with a failure in the procedures below is unacceptable.)
The procedure of application will be as follows:
Applicants are required to sign the Non-disclosure agreement, since Sony and applicants need to disclose confidential information to each other for qualification evaluation and licensing process. Please download the Application form for E-mount basic specification disclosure from the link in this homepage, have it signed by the relevant representative of your company and send it with your contact information (name of the contact person and company address) to the Inquiry & Admission Office by post.
Sony will send a notification about Non-Disclosure Agreement form to the person in the contact sheet.
Please make 2 copies of the Non-disclosure agreement form (one for the applicant's file and the other one for Sony's file), have them signed by the relevant representative of your company and send both of them to the Inquiry & Admission Office by post.
Upon receipt of the Non-disclosure agreement with signature, the following materials will be delivered to the applicant.
Only the applicant who is capable of proving its conformity to the qualification criteria can proceed to application for the Basic Specifications license. Please apply by filling in necessary information in the supplied application form and send it to the Inquiry & Admission Office by post, together with other required documents listed in the list above.
Sony will go through and review all of the documentation from the applicant to see if the applicant is eligible for a potential licensee of the Basic Specifications. If the applicant passes the evaluation, Sony will dispatch two copies of the licensing agreement. Sony may ask applicants to submit their company information during this process.
If you agree on the terms and conditions of the licensing agreement, make two copies (one for the applicant's file and the other one for Sony's file) both signed by the relevant representative of your company and send them to the Inquiry & Admission Office by post.
After the execution of the licensing agreement by the applicant and Sony, Sony will disclose the Basic Specification to the applicant in the manner determined by Sony.
