How to use PlayMemories Studio™

Play

  • Guide information
    Press thebutton during playback to display detailed information about an image. You can also use the/buttons to view the previous or next image.
  • Time bar
    The playback time and the amount of time remaining until the end are displayed. For photos, the playback time varies depending on the playback style for slideshow settings.
  • Help message
    A description is displayed for the item currently selected by the cursor.
  • Operating help
    The main button operations that can be used on the currently displayed screen are displayed.
    • Guide ON/OFF
      Press the button to turn on/off guide information, such as date/time taken, etc., and use the buttons to operate.
    • Scene search
      Press thebutton during playback to display the scene search. Use select a thumbnail, then press thebutton to start playback from the selected location. You can change the interval between thumbnails by using.
    • Stop
      Press the button to stop.
    • Zoom
      Use theduring playback to zoom in on images. When using zoom, you can usecontrol the zoom location.
    • Sub Menu

      Press thebutton to display the list of functions that can be used on this screen.

      Add a favourite stamp. If you add a favourite stamp to an image, you can easily find it again with the view setting.

      Delete a favourite stamp.

      Apply a variety of visual effects to images.

    The currently available visual effects are listed below.

    • Sepia
    • Soft focus
    • Bleach bypass
    • Monochrome pin hole camera
    • Monochrome
    • Monochrome soft focus
    • Hard monochrome
    • Toy camera
    • Cross process
    • Miniature
    • Invert negative/positive

    Visual effects that are applied here will not be preserved.

    Images can be rotated. After rotating an image, press thebutton to preserve the change.
    Capture a screenshot of the currently displayed screen and save it as a 2D image. The captured 2D image is saved in the PlayStation®3 internal HDD.

Play

In Timeline view or Map view, press thebutton to play only the image currently selected by the cursor. Playback pauses when the image has finished playing.

You can select images from a PS3™ Internal HDD or USB storage device. You can also select images stored on PlayMemories Online™, and switch the storage in Timeline view.

Certain functions may not be available in some countries/regions.

Only Timeline view is available for PlayMemories Online™ images.

The following formats are not supported in PlayMemories Studio™.

  • MP4 60p
  • Motion JPEG
  • XAVC

Slideshow

In Timeline view or Map view, press the button to play the currently selected images in a slideshow. The slideshow can be viewed using the playback method specified in the playback style for slideshow settings.

Digest playback

This playback method can be selected from the Sub Menu in Timeline view, Map view, or Mylist view. Highlights are played without showing all images in their entirety.

Travel playback

This playback method can be selected from the Sub Menu in Timeline view, Map view, or Mylist view. Images are played back with a map. Only images with location info can be played in travel playback. If an image has no location info or if you want to update the location info of an image, you can add or edit location info via the Sub Menu in Timeline view.

Mylist playback

Play edited images in a Mylist.

Playback style for slideshow

The playback methods listed below can be selected when playing images in a slideshow or with digest playback, travel playback or Mylist playback, and BGM can be selected from 13 tracks.

  • 1: Simple
    Play images with simple playback effects.
  • 2: Rapid
    Play images with rapid playback effects.
  • 3: Relaxed
    Play images with relaxed playback effects.

BRAVIA 4K Photo

You can play photos in 4K when BRAVIA 4K Photo is enabled in the Settings menu.

When the PlayStation®3 is connected to a BRAVIA 4K-compatible TV, [BRAVIA 4K Photo] can be set to "ON."

"The screen you are using does not support BRAVIA 4K Photo Playback" will be displayed when [Settings] > [Display Settings] > [Video Output Settings] is set manually in PlayStation®3 XMB™. Set [Video Output Settings] in PlayStation®3 XMB™ to [Automatic] prevent this message being displayed.
