PlayMemories Mobile does not work properly (Wi-Fi interruption, transferred images not stored, Smart Remote Control not working, etc.)
A1.
Check the following in the displayed order until the problem is solved. Details may differ depending on your device.
  • Wi-Fi connection may be interrupted while monitoring or recording due to radio wave environments or mobile device performances. In this case, connect Wi-Fi again to restart monitoring or recording.
  • Only MP4 movies (.mp4) and JPEG still images (.jpg) can be sent.
  • If you use a Handycam compatible with the Wireless Adaptor ADP-WL1M, [Ctrl with Smartphone] can be performed in the recording mode only. Also, in order to send images stored on the memory card, set [Media Select] > [Memory Card] in advance.
  • Check if your mobile device is listed in <Verified Mobile Devices>.
  • Select [Settings] and turn on [Wi-Fi].
  • Select [Settings] > [Wi-Fi] > Menu button > [Advanced] > [Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep] > [Always].
  • Select [Settings] > [Wi-Fi] > Menu button > [Advanced], and disable or turn off all the functions below. The names of the function may differ among your mobile device.

  • Uncheck [Settings] > [More...] > [Wireless & networks] > [Wi-Fi settings] > [Advanced] > [Use static IP (address)].
  • Uncheck [Settings] > [More...] > [Wireless & networks] > [Tethering].
  • Uncheck [Settings] > [More...] > [Wireless & networks] > [Airplane mode].
  • Verify the camera's SSID starting with [DIRECT...] from the list displayed in [Settings] > [Wi-Fi]. If it is [Not in range], select [Forget] and connect it again. If it is [Disabled], select [Connect].
  • Turn off and on the power of your mobile device and camera.
  • Disconnect the camera's SSID starting with [DIRECT...] from the list displayed in [Settings] > [Wi-Fi], and connect it again.
  • Reset the camera. (Select [SSID/PW Reset] for Cyber-shot and Handycam, [Reset View on Smartphone] for A-mount/E-mount cameras, [RESET] for Action Cam.)
  • Uninstall PlayMemories Mobile and install it again. To uninstall, select [Settings] > [Apps] > [PlayMemories Mobile], then select [Force stop], [Clear data], [Clear cache], and [Uninstall] in order.
Q2.
I touched the mobile device and the camera through NFC, but PlayMemories Mobile does not start or the [Choose an action] message appears.
A2.
Align both N marks on the camera and the mobile device exactly. If PlayMemories Mobile still does not start, slide the position of the mobile device slightly, change the direction of the mobile device, or separate the camera and the device for more than 10 seconds and touch them again.
Q3.
PlayMemories Mobile started, but the camera's SSID starting with [DIRECT...] does not appear on the selection screen.

Your PlayMemories Mobile version may be old. Update it to the latest version.

PlayMemories Mobile does not work properly (Wi-Fi interruption, transferred images not stored, Smart Remote Control not working, etc.)

Check the following in the displayed order until the problem is solved. Details may differ depending on your device.
  • First, set the camera to the awaiting Wi-Fi connection condition. Then, connect the mobile device to the camera via Wi-Fi connection and start PlayMemories Mobile.
  • Wi-Fi connection may be interrupted while monitoring or recording due to radio wave environments or mobile device performances. In this case, connect Wi-Fi again to restart monitoring or recording.
  • Only MP4 movies (.mp4) and JPEG still images (.jpg) can be sent.
  • Movies recorded in HQ mode cannot be sent to the iPhone 4.
  • Movies recorded in PS mode cannot be sent to iPhones and iPads.
  • If you use a Handycam compatible with the Wireless Adaptor ADP-WL1M, [Ctrl with Smartphone] can be performed in the recording mode only. Also, in order to send images stored on the memory card, set [Media Select] > [Memory Card] in advance.
  • Check if your mobile device is listed in <Verified Mobile Devices>.
  • Click the arrow icon at the right side of the camera's SSID starting with [DIRECT...] and make sure that the IP address is set to [DHCP].
  • Make sure that Tethering is set to off. (ex. [Settings] > [General] > [Cellular Data] > [Personal Hotspot] to off.)
  • Make sure that [Airplane Mode] is set to off.
  • Turn off and on the power of your mobile device and camera.
  • Reset the camera. (Select [SSID/PW Reset] for Cyber-shot and Handycam, [Reset View on Smartphone] for A-mount/E-mount cameras, [RESET] for Action Cam.)
  • Uninstall PlayMemories Mobile and install it again. To uninstall, touch and hold the PlayMemories Mobile icon until [X] mark appears at the top left corner, and select it.
Q5.
When using an iPhone running on iOS6 or later, the message [Could not copy any selected content.] or [Could not obtain image.] appears.

Select [Settings] > [Privacy] > [Photos] > [PlayMemories Mobile] and turn it on.

Troubles after connection

Wi-Fi connection suddenly interrupted while sending images or using remote control.

The surrounding radio wave condition may not be good. Shorten the distance between the camera and the mobile device.

Images displayed on the monitor on the mobile device does not move smoothly.

I want to use one-touch remote by NFC, but it does not respond or images are sent instead.

To use one-touch remote, set the camera to the recording/shooting mode.
Q9.
Sometimes I am unable to take pictures even when I press the shutter button.

When you shoot by pressing the shutter button on the smartphone, photos may not be taken if you release your finger from the shutter button while the camera is autofocusing. Press the shutter button a little longer before you release it.
