Smart Remote Control for Cyber-shot and an iPhone/iPad

Your smartphone and tablet can be used as a remote controller for Cyber-shot to record photos and movies.

  • Screen design and operation may be different depending on your camera and smartphone.
  • Operations are the same for both smartphones and tablets.
Step 1 Turn on the camera.
Step 2 Select [MENU] → [Ctrl with Smartphone].
Step 3 The SSID and the password are displayed. Now the camera is ready to be connected by a smartphone.
Step 4 On the smartphone, select [Settings] → [Wi-Fi].
Step 5 Select the SSID [DIRECT-xxxx:DSC-xxx] displayed on the camera.
Step 6 Enter the password displayed on the camera.
  • This procedure is required the first time only.
Step 7 Make sure that the smartphone is connected to the SSID displayed on the camera.
Step 8 The smartphone can be used as a remote controller. Operate the smartphone as follows.

Parts and Controls for shooting

A: To switch between photos and movies (Does not appear if movie is not available or not selectable with a smartphone)

B: Zoom button

C: Shutter button

D: To view images (Quick Viewer)

E: Settings

  • Self-timer: Select [Off], [2sec] or [10sec].
  • Flash: Select [Off] or [Auto].
  • Review Image: Settings to display image after shooting. Select [On], [2sec], or [Off].
  • Save Options: Settings to save review image to smartphone after shooting. Select [On] or [Off]. When [Off], image may not be saved anywhere if memory card is not inserted in shooting device.

Parts and Controls for viewing

F: To show thumbnails

G: To go back to the shooting mode

H: To share images (Cancels the connection with the camera and starts an external application)

Note:
  • The size of an image saved on the smartphone will be [2M].
  • Movies will not be saved on the smartphone.
  • The buttons on the camera do not work while operating with a smartphone.
