Prepare the recording medium (Memory Stick PRO Duo / Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo / SD Memory Card / SDHC Memory Card) to use for the update.
Format the recording medium on the camera.

		Firmware update may not start if the recording medium is not formatted.
		Please note that all data, including protected images, will be erased by formatting, and cannot be restored.

1. Turn OFF the camera power, then insert the prepared recording medium into the camera. Ensure that the memory card switch is on the side of the inserted media.
   
   
2. Turn ON the power switch.
   
   
3. Press the MENU button to display the menu, select the Playback menu-1 using the Control buttons.
4. Select the "Format" in the Playback menu-1 with the Control buttons then press the Center button of the Control buttons.
   
   
   
   

Copy the update file (DSCAxxx.APP) onto the formatted recording media (Memory Stick Pro Duo / SD Memory Card).



If your computer has a card slot which is suitable for the recording medium

1. Insert the recording medium that was formatted on the camera into the card slot of your computer.
2. Copy the decompressed update file (DSCAxxx.APP) onto the root folder of the recording medium.
   
   

If your computer does not have a card slot suitable for the recording medium.

Connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable, and copy the update file onto the recording medium.

Before copying the file, check the USB connection.

1. Insert the battery into the camera (or connect the AC adapter AC-PW10AM)
2. Insert the recording medium that was formatted on the camera.
   If the recording medium has not been formatted, please format the medium.
   Select the type of memory card you want to use using the memory card switch.
3. Slide the camera power switch to the ON position.
4. Press the MENU button and display 3 of the Setup Menu, using the control button.
   Check that “USB connection” is set to “Mass Storage”.
   If "Mass Storage" has not been set, please change the setting to “Mass Storage”.
   
   
   

Copy the update file onto the recording media.

1. Connect the camera and the computer with the USB cable.
2. Select the decompressed update file (DSCAxxx.APP) and copy the file from the computer onto the root folder of the recording medium within the camera.
   
   
3. When the copying the file is complete , delete the USB connection.
