Adjusting the AF drive speed until a subject is in focus

When shooting movies, you can set the speed for focusing on subjects in the focus area in [MoviesAF drive speed].

AF drive speed (movies)

Setting the camera

  1. [Focus Mode]

    MENU → (Camera Settings1) → [Focus Mode] → [AF-C].

  2. [MoviesAF drive speed]

    MENU → (Camera Settings2) → [MoviesAF drive speed] → desired setting.

Setting [MoviesAF drive speed] to suit shooting conditions

[Fast]
Effective for tracking fast-moving subjects. Recommended for sports or other scenes with rapid movement.
[Standard]

Sets the AF drive speed to normal.

[Slow]
Effective for smooth tracking of subjects.
Hint

Used with [MoviesAF Tracking Sens.], this setting enables optimal setting customization for the subjects or scenes you shoot.


Compatible lenses

[MoviesAF Tracking Sens.] and [MoviesAF drive speed] are not available with lenses that are not compatible with phase-detection AF.

To see which lenses are compatible, check the lens compatibility information listed below.

  • Lenses without notes on phase-detection AF or Fast Hybrid AF are compatible.
  • Lenses noted as incompatible with phase-detection AF or Fast Hybrid AF are not compatible with this function.
  • For lenses noted as compatible with phase-detection AF or Fast Hybrid AF after updating, update the firmware.
