  • [Spot: M]/[Expand Spot]
When the tracking frame shifts to another subject or object other than the intended player, we recommend that you change the [Focus Area] setting from [Tracking] to [Spot: M] or [Expand Spot].
We recommend that you set it to [Spot: M] when players are far apart from each other, or [Expand Spot] when players are close to each other or multiple players are closely bunched.

Also refer to the following item.

  • [Tracking: Spot M]
For sports where players move rapidly, we recommend that you track the intended player with [Subject Recog in AF] set to [On] and [Focus Area] set to [Tracking: Spot M].
If a face, eye, etc. is detected while the tracking function is tracking the subject, the tracking frame switches to the subject recognition frame and automatically moves to the face, eye, etc.
You can freely change the shot framing while tracking a player, letting you shoot in consideration of the balance with other players and the background.
If there is a subject other than the player, such as a referee or spectator, near the focusing area to start tracking, you may be unable to select the correct focus position.
There are many cases where the player with the ball changes frequently or another player crosses in front of the player, so we recommend that you set [AF Lvl for Crossing] to the somewhat more sensitive setting [4].

  • [Tracking: Spot M]
In scenes where there is rapid horizontal movement, such as when shooting medium close-ups of tennis players during a singles match, it is recommended that you set the focus area to [Tracking: Spot M].
When [Subject Recog in AF] is set to [On] and combined with tracking, if a face, eye, etc. is detected while the tracking function is tracking the subject, the tracking frame switches to the subject recognition frame and automatically moves to the face, eye, etc.
While tracking the subject, the framing can be altered according to your preference. This allows for adjustments to the composition, such as the balancing of other subjects and the background within the shot.
If there is a subject other than the player, such as a referee or spectator, near the area to start tracking, you may be unable to select the correct focus position.
If [Recognition Off on Hold] or [Recog. Off on Toggle] is assigned to a desired key using [Custom Key/Dial Set.], pressing that key temporarily sets [Subject Recog in AF] to [Off]. We recommend this when the focusing area unintentionally shifts to a subject other than the person you want to focus on.
Using [Spot: M] or pressing the shutter button halfway down again is helpful when rapidly shooting different subjects in succession.
Assigning [Tracking On] or [Reg. Custom Shoot Set] (Set to AF On and Tracking) to the Custom Key allows you to quickly switch the tracking function on or off.

Also refer to the following item.

  • [Spot: M]/[Expand Spot]
When the tracking frame shifts to another subject or object other than the intended player, we recommend that you change the [Focus Area] setting from [Tracking] to [Spot: M] or [Expand Spot].
As players are frequently crowded together in this sport, [Expand Spot] is recommended when focusing on a single subject in a group with many other subjects.
To continue tracking a player stably in a situation where players intermingle and collide with each other, we recommend that you set [AF Lvl for Crossing] to the somewhat locked-on setting [2].
