Selecting a subject to be tracked by touch (Shooting movies)

You can use touch operations to select a subject you want to track.

Setting the camera

Set the Still/Movie/S&Q dial to (Movie) to select movie recording mode.

  1. [Touch Operation]

    MENU → (Setup) → [Touch Operation] → [Touch Operation] → [On].

  2. [Touch Panel/Pad]

    MENU → (Setup) → [Touch Operation] → [Touch Panel/Pad] → the desired setting.

  3. [Touch Pad Settings]

    MENU → (Setup) → [Touch Operation] → [Touch Pad Settings] → the desired setting.

  4. [Touch Func. in Shooting]

    MENU → (Setup) → [Touch Operation] → [Touch Func. in Shooting] → [Touch Tracking].

    Hint

    You can change the setting for [Touch Func. in Shooting] by touching // (touch function icon) on the shooting screen.

Guide to using the camera

About the tracking frame to be displayed

When you select a subject to be tracked using touch panel operation when shooting with the monitor or touch pad operation when shooting with the viewfinder, the following white tracking frame appears and tracking is enabled under the condition where the subject is in focus.
To shoot a movie as the camera tracks the subject, press the MOVIE button in this state.

* To cancel tracking, touch (Tracking release) icon or press the center of the control wheel.

Tracking is enabled and a subject is in focus

Assign [Touch Operation Select] to a custom key.

This function is useful because each time you press that custom key, you can quickly switch [Touch Operation] to [On] or [Off], if you have assigned the [Touch Operation Select] function to a custom key in advance.
