2. Connection and importing images
The target image must be imported to the smartphone before it can be used for FTP transfer, caption editing, and so on, in the app.
Import wirelessly

Personal Hotspot
Your smartphone’s tethering or personal hotspot function is used to connect.

Wi-Fi
A Wi-Fi network (access point) is used to connect.
Import wiredly

USB tethering (Smartphones with USB Power Delivery (PD) support only)
Your smartphone’s tethering or personal hotspot function is used to connect via a USB cable.
Check “Supported Cameras” to determine if you can use this function on your camera.

Ethernet tethering (Android 11 and later only)
Your smartphone’s tethering or personal hotspot function is used to connect via a LAN cable.
Check “Supported Cameras” to determine if you can use this function on your camera.

USB mass storage connection
Your camera connects as a mass storage device via a USB cable to import images.

USB PC remote connection
Connect to the camera using a USB cable to import images via a USB PC remote connection. You can continue to shoot while importing images.

Import using linked apps

Import using linked apps
You can import images that have been imported to your smartphone using a linked app (Creators’ App or Imaging Edge Mobile) to Transfer & Tagging.
To automatically embed previously created IPTC metadata when importing images
Before importing, select the IPTC metadata that you would like to add in [Setting] > [Import] > [Embed IPTC metadata when importing.] For more information, see "3.3. Adding IPTC metadata presets."
To transfer images to a smartphone while shooting (FTP background transfer)
Follow the procedure described in “2.1. Importing images using FTP” to import images.
Note:
- Images imported to the smartphone will be stored in the internal memory. They cannot be stored in the card inserted in the smartphone.
- It is not possible to change the image size when importing images. The original images are transferred.
