(Shooting still images) Specifying a position where you want to focus using touch operations

When performing auto-focusing, you can specify the position where you want to focus using touch operations. After touching the monitor and specifying a position, press the shutter button halfway down to focus.
When focusing manually, you can double-tap a position on the monitor to magnify display there.

Setting the camera

  1. Still/Movie/S&Q button

    Press the Still/Movie/S&Q button (A) to select the still image shooting mode.
    The (still image shooting mode) icon will be displayed in the top left of the monitor.

  2. [Focus Mode]

    MENU → (Focus) → [AF/MF] → [Focus Mode] → [Single-shot AF].

  3. [Focus Area]

    Select one of MENU (Focus) → [Focus Area] → [Focus Area] → [Wide], [Zone] or [Center Fix].

  4. [Touch Operation]

    MENU → (Setup) → [Touch Operation] → [Touch Operation] → [On].

  5. [Touch Func. in Shooting]

    MENU → (Setup) → [Touch Operation] → [Touch Func. in Shooting] → [Touch Focus].

Focusing frame

When the [Focus Area] setting is [Wide] or [Center Fix]
  • When you touch a position on the monitor where you want to focus, a focusing frame is displayed at this position.
When the [Focus Area] setting is [Zone]
  • When you touch the focusing frame of [Zone] in the state where it can be moved, you can move the zone.

  • Touch the position on which you want to focus in the state where a zone is selected by pressing the center button. The focusing frame becomes smaller and is displayed at the position you touched.

Hint

In addition to the touch focus function, touch operations such as the following are also available.

  • When [Focus Area] is one of [Spot: S], [Spot: M], [Spot: L] or [Expand Spot], the focusing frame can be moved by dragging.
  • When [Focus Mode] is [Manual Focus], if you double-tap the monitor, you can perform the focus magnification operation.

To shoot

Press the shutter button halfway down. The focusing frame turns green once the subject is in focus. To shoot under these conditions, with subjects in focus, press the shutter button all the way down.

To cancel focusing with touch operations, touch (Touch focus release) icon or press the center of the control wheel.
